The Waiting tells the journey of David, who loses his wife
Monica after three years of marriage in an accident he believes to be his fault. Wracked with
immense guilt and grief, David has a series of nightmares and begins to alienate himself from
his friends and family. It is only with the help of Ilene, Monica's best friend, that David is
able to cope with funeral arrangements and other tasks that must be handled.
His grief and suffering eventually lead to his own accident,
which causes him to slip into a coma. While in the coma he finds himself in a strange place,
The Waiting, where he encounters Monica, his dead wife. The Waiting gives David the one thing
he's prayed for, ever since losing Monica, the opportunity to be with her again. He's finally
getting a chance to say and do all the things he's wanted to be able to, but gets sidetracked
when Monica reveals to him that he is on the brink of death. Initially, to David, The Waiting
seems to be the answer to his prayers. He soon comes to find out, with Monica's help, that The
Waiting represents so much more. |
